  I have been experiencing a 7 day neck ache with the presence of a migraine.  Last Sunday night it was the worst I've felt in years.  Baaaaaad pain.  But each day that it's been bothering me, I have also felt quite sick to my stomach.  I am ready for it to quit.  

Having a headache keeps me from doing a lot of my housework because just about everything that I do makes it worse.  Even though it bothered me today, I HAD to get up and do some stuff.  And look, I survived to write this blog!

 

Tonight I am making my 2nd batch of fruit leather.  I just love that!  It is so delish!  Tonight's flavor is strawberries.  Mmmm sounds good doesn't it!?

I really wanted to start a garden in my backyard this year, but we have only had like 4 days of sun.....so it's not good timing in my opinion.  I can't wait to have my very own fresh fruit and veggies to use in stuff.  Although, being in the woods, I will have fresh huckleberries, blackberries and salmon berries to use.  I do not care for the salmon berries myself, but the kids and Greg love them.

The guy at the fruit stand said they may have some raspberries tomorrow.  Those would be good to make a fruit leather with also.

 

 

My 1st Friday Fave 5 and Our Regularly Scheduled Friday Follow

Hello everyone. Welcome to another week of Friday Fave Five. Take a look back over your week and look for those things that were blessings to you and then join in with us. For details you can head over here.  Welcome also to bloggers from Friday Follow!

This is my first time joining this blog and I am excited about it.  I think it is a great idea.  An opportunity to look back on my week and think of 5 things that I loved, liked, was blessed with, etc.  Then to share with my blogger friends!!  Ok, enough mushy stuff, let's take a look at my list for this week.

 

1.  I was able to buy fresh strawberries and cherries to make homemade fruit leather for the first time.  I am slowly moving over to organic and healthier foods.  This is the first time that I've made us something this healthy from scratch, to be perfectly honest.  I've made healthy things before, but not this healthy.  I am very excited to try it tomorrow!



2.  My FIL bought a quad for the kids.  It is a very small one, but I am just a little over the weight limit on it.  That means I am able to ride.  lol  I have taken it out for a spin without the kids on it with me and boy oh boy!!  Momma's buying one of those for herself with her settlement!!  You bet your booty on that.  I miss having speed in my life.  I am just too safe and paranoid to drive fast in my mini-van.  lol  I need a horse with some spunk, or a quad that has some horses in it!


3.  I got the book from www.booksneeze.com that I get to read, review on my blog and keep the book for free.  It's called A Guy's Guide to Life by Jason Boyett.  I chose this book because I want a good Christian book for Bubba to read when he is older.  A book to help instill and teach him the way that a proper man of God should act.  I have one book for Stinky already so I chose this to keep for Bubba.  I am halfway through it so far, so stay tuned for a book review in the next day or two.

4.  My kitten, Solomon.  He is the funniest little guy to watch.  He's got some LONG legs and he uses those legs to JUMP everywhere!  I mean EVERYWHERE!!  If his little half pound body can get there, he bounds there!  It is just amazing.  I have never had a cat with his abilities.  He finds higher places to go in that our 2 larger cats haven't tried to get to!

5.  I am thankful for my FIL, although you probably will never hear me say that again!  I have issues with the man.  But he is helpful when he wants to be.  Last Saturday, (I know this is last week, but just hang tough) he gave me and the kids $50 to spend at garage sales.  Today I asked for $10 for gas to take Bubba to the car show tomorrow and he gave me $20.  He also helps a lot by bringing juice, milk, snacks and other foods for the kids.

I have a word to say about this Friday Follow thing.  I have seen some people say that they don't like it because they want to attract readers because of their blog content, not because people feel obligated to follow you through a blog hop.  Here is my opinion.  When I started blogging, I wanted to share with others.  I am not out to get millions of followers.  I just want my blog out there.  I want people to see it.  Maybe they will like it and want to follow me, and maybe they won't.  I think that is a decision that they need to make themselves after checking out my blog.  In a few weeks, I will be hosting this Friday Follow blog hop.  As one of the hosts for the week, my blog will be put in the #3 slot for EVERYONE to follow.  But here is my take:  ONLY FOLLOW ME IF YOU LIKE  MY BLOG.  Please don't follow me just because you feel obligated.  I don't want a number of readers who don't read my blog.  I want some followers that will share in my joys and trials with me.

Court

I didn't get called into court at all.  So it will have to be rescheduled again.  For me and my family, that means no vacation this summer.  Which is a HUGE bummer.  We really wanted and really NEED a vacation.  But the Lord knows best so I guess I will wait until He deems that it is the right time for us to go to court.  But I'm still bummed even if it didn't fit into God's plan right now.

  My Furry Felines

   My cats are definitely a huge part of our family.  We take such good care of our cats and they are so spoiled.  We really just can't help it!  It is a blessing to have such great companions.

And there they are....the cats of the Decker household.  Feisty is the oldest cat of the bunch.  She is about 8 years old.  She definitely lives up to her name.  It seems she is constantly hissing and growling at the other cats.  She thinks that it should be a one cat household.  Poor girl.  

Next is Tom.  This was the cat that we got for Stinky's birthday.  He is the biggest of the group at 12 pounds.  He's only 11 months though.  Still a baby.  He is meek and mild, but he puts up with the kitten so well!  They play and play together, which takes a load off of me from having to play with that kitten so much!

Solomon is our baby.  He is 2 months old and just as cute and sweet as can be!  Everyone adores him and spoils him.  He is a jumper!  Straight up or straight across!  It doesn't matter, he looks like a flying squirrel!  It cracks me up to watch him leap to everything.  It's nice to have a baby in the house to laugh at.

Books

 I have been cruising right through my Spring Reading Thing List.  I need to finish the book that I am on and I'll add one more book for one that I didn't read, and I am done!  I will have accomplished all of the books on my list!! 

I just looked at my Spring Reading Thing List and guess what?!? I am actually done with it!  I didn't know that I finished it.  Lol!  That is encouragement there!  Whew!

I am currently reading a great book about a missionary couple that was kidnapped in the Philippines.  It's called In The Presence Of My Enemies by Gracia Burnham with Dean Merrill.  I have only reached page 50 right now, but it's an engaging story.  Of course, you should be able to handle reading about people getting tormented and such, because it is a horrific story.  I just don't know that I could be a missionary and live with those sort of fears daily.  Lol I guess it's a good thing the Lord hasn't called me to be a missionary worker.  Well, at least not yet....I truly admire missionary people.  They are brave and courageous!  

Garage Sales

Tomorrow is the city wide garage sale in Orting.  I can't wait!!  I saved me some money to go check things out.  I am mostly looking for a desk for Stinky.  I need that!  Today I had heard that a couple of houses/neighborhoods had started early--today.  So me and the kids decided to check them out.  The early bird gets the worm right?  So I found a garage sale with shirts that were size S!  I never find shirts, or any clothes for that matter, in my size at garage sales.  Now before and of you become haters, let me add something here...**YES I AM SKINNY.  I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.  PLEASE REFRAIN FROM MAKING COMMENTS ABOUT HOW SKINNY I AM OR HOW I SHOULD STOP WHINING BECAUSE I CAN'T FIND CLOTHES TO FIT ME.  WHEN YOU MAKE COMMENTS LIKE THAT TO ME, IT'S THE SAME AS IF I SAID TO YOU "HEY, YOU'RE REALLY FAT!  I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW FAT YOU ARE!  WOULD YOU MIND IF I SUCKED OFF SOME OF YOUR FAT TO PUT ON MYSELF?"**  Seriously ladies, I do not like comments made like that.  It's not that it hurts my feelings, but it puts me on the spot and embarrasses me.  

I was also lucky enough to find a garage sale that was selling 4, yes 4!, coffee warmer plates.  I already have one that sits at my computer, but I wanted another one to have at my end table.  This lady was selling them for 50 cents each!  So I bought 2!  lol

Stinky found a caboodle.  I laughed.  She thought it was really neat.  I still have mine from when I was a teenager.  Just too funny!!

I can't wait to see some of the things we will find tomorrow.  I am also going to bring my camera.  You never know what pictures you can take!

  Conclusion

I think this post is long enough.  If I had readers at the beginning I probably don't now!  I haven't blogged all week and I guess I had more to say than what I thought I did.  Oh well.  If I lose readers because of random and ongoing typing, I'm sorry. 

 

Friday Follow and Other Happenings

I just got the call from my lawyer.  I am on stand-by for court on Monday.  My case has been bumped once because we are short on judges, but it could be bumped again.  I don't want it to be bumped, I want to get this over with!  There was a criminal case that came up, and that takes precedence over my case.  I still may be able to get in with a judge on Monday morning though.  I just won't know until they call me and say "we got a judge, you have one hour to be here."

Chances are that my case will get bumped again, but I think that I remember my lawyer telling me that it could only be bumped twice.  Maybe not though.

I am suing the driver who hit us 4 years ago.  When we got hit, I had both of my kids in the car.  Bubba was 11 months and Stinky was 2 years old.  The air bags opened and it felt like I got punched in the chin and it broke my mom's wrist.  We had another passenger in the backseat with us also.  I was driving a mini-van.  I don't think I should be giving out the details of the accident right now on a blog because I am going to court.  I figured because of the severity of this accident that I needed to hire a lawyer.  I wanted to make sure that my kids would be taken care of and I didn't get ripped off.  I am very glad that I hired him and he is an excellent and well reputed  lawyer.

I ended up with whip-lash and degenerative bone disease in my neck.  I also came out of it with arthritis in my neck.  This is the cause of my migraines, neck aches, shoulder aches and back aches.  Because of this accident and injuries, I am not able to pick up my children for any length of time, they can't play with me or wrestle with me, lots of housework causes me to have migraines, looking at books on the shelves at the library gives me migraines, lifting anything hurts and just about my whole lifestyle had to change.  The one bad thing is that it makes it harder to read.  I can't just hold a book and read it, I have to have my neck propped back a little and have the books held high.  It's not comfortable really.

I am nervous about court.  I think we are going to Supreme Court and I have to testify in front of a jury.  Now here's the thing.  I have always wanted to be a lawyer or legal secretary or a paralegal.  I am really excited about watching how a real court case is done in front of a jury.  What does not excite me and actually makes my stomach tingle is that I have to testify in front of them.  I want to watch what goes on, but I don't want to be involved in it!  lol  Unless I am the trained lawyer.  Which I am not.  My husband, father-in-law and my mom are all testifying for me also, along with my chiropractor.

This week we haven't done any school.  It's been just a messed up weird week and it just wasn't possible.  For me physically or even for my sanity.  I am not worried about it at all since we are working most of the summer.  And if I do go to court, we will only have a half week next week.  Court will be Monday, Tuesday and maybe Wednesday.

This week I am reading a great book called A Princess Found by Sarah Culberson and Tracy Trivas.  It is written with such heartfelt emotion from Sarah as she tells her life of searching for her biological parents.  When she finds her father she finds out that she is an African princess.  How exciting would that be to learn?!  Even though Africa is still a poor country, being royalty is royalty!  lol

Today I went to a bookstore in Sumner.  It is such a cute little bookstore on Main Street.  I just love it.  The people that work there are so friendly and helpful.  I think what I love the best, even more than the wonderfully reasonable prices, is that they are so nice to my kids!  They talk and talk with them and make them feel very welcome.  Not many people will do that.  You always score with Mom when you make her children feel special and good. It is called A Good Book Cafe and it is my favorite bookstore besides Borders.

Anyways, I took some books in for them to have, which makes the prices for me doubly wonderfully reasonable!!  So after giving them my books today, we bought 3 more.  I got You & Your Cat by David Taylor for myself to read a little, but mostly for the kids to look through and learn some things.  I bought Bubba Berenstains' A Book by Stan & Jan Berenstain and I bought Stinky a chapter book by Disney called Silvermist and the Ladybug Curse by Gail Herman.  It's a Tinkerbell fairy book.
